Sightseeing in Mumbai

I woke up around 5:30am like usual. My body is still trying to adjust to the 10.5 hour time difference. 5:30am here is 7pm the previous day in Pittsburgh. I was able to watch some of the Penguins game via an Internet stream.

I met Andreas and Joachim for breakfast at 8am and we left for the office at 9am. The rain finally stopped, so I was able to finally see Mumbai on the drive to the office.

Pretty much anything with wheels and a motor is used for transportation in Mumbai.

The day at the office consisted of more of the same. We met with a variety of people to discuss their roles, answer any questions they have and reinforce that we need to work as a team to allow Bayer to grow and move forward. The vendor called a town hall meeting and Andreas was asked to provide a motivational speech. 100-150 employees attended and after the speech awards for exemplary performance were handed out with our assistance.

We left the office promptly at 5pm to do some sightseeing before meeting some of the provider colleagues (Percy, Sandeep and Sandip) for dinner.

We went to South Mumbai to see the main train station, the city hall of Mumbai, Crawford Market and the Gateway of India.

We went to the Gaylord restaurant which is in Percy's area of town. It is clearly a place that has been around for quite awhile. Percy did all of the food ordering and several appetizers were presented. It was a variety of chicken and lamb.

The main course consisted of several chicken and vegetable dishes.

After dinner we walked a short distance to an ice cream shop Percy recommended. There was a board with 12 or so ice cream flavors to choose from. The ice cream is then sandwiched between two sugar wafers. It was very tasty and a welcome relief from the 75 degree weather at 10pm.

Tomorrow is my second to last day in Mumbai. I wish I had more time here as there is a lot I still want to see and do.
